Event 1 A mixed-bag at Stithians Morning registration started slowly and I was thinking that the north zone were going to beat me in numbers again (they had a whacking 38 yesterday). I helped sort out entry forms and even had time to help a few clubbers rig up - or so I thought. I went back to the registration area and it was packed with registration forms and people all over the place. Wow! 39 entries, a quick victory dance and on to the computer to enter all the details. A bit of fun in the light winds. Geoff organised the first race on a down wind course. This was hotly competed with a very close finish between all the teams. Roseland Wave Riders sponsored, by Demon Sails, made the dash to the finish just ahead of the Roadford Wreckers. Race 2 was a paddle and sail, with one person paddling and one person sailing the board. This proved to be great fun in the light Race 3 was a reverse of race 2 due to the light wind conditions. Adam and Jack proved that their race 2 results were not a fluke.
Things hot up in the afternoon A break for lunch and, as the wind filled in, a course was laid. Briefings were given and we were straight into the start of race 4. This was held on a triangle course of 2 laps and a grand prix finish. What a start! The more experienced hugged the line showing the new sailors the way its done. Jack Warren from Roseland Wave Riders(Demon Sails) led the race from start to Fast finishes Another 3 races were held on the same course. Im not sure whether it was the newer sailors improving or Jack getting tired but nobody was lapped in the last race. The fact that the race only took 18 minutes for the last person to cross the line makes me think the standard was really improving. So, onto the prizes. Team prize went to Roseland Wave Riders. The sponsors Nielson, Tushingham, and Demon were thanked as was the RYA for allowing Geoff and I to have so much fun. Team winners - Roseland Wave Riders Report written by: |

The Green Blue is an environmental awareness initiative by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. One of its aims is to educate and promote the sustainable use of coastal and inland waters by watersports participants. Some of the initiatives have a relevance to windsurfers - especially in achieving cleaner seas and beaches.
