What are the T15 inter-club challenges like? The T15 inter-club challenges are really friendly events and the competition is pitched to cater for all levels of ability. The day starts off with a bit of real fun on the water to help break the ice (not literally - the water's quite warm!) then once everyone has relaxed a little and starts to enjoy themselves, various other challenges are set. You will sail with others who have the same size sail as you to keep things fair and there are trophies to be won - and not just by those who get top scores - so join in the fun.
We reckon if you try it you will be hooked! Have a look on the message board to see what other children think.
Zones Every RYA zone will have four events per year; being zone based travel distances are kept to a minimum so we hope all clubs will attend. There are individual class trophies to be won with the main emphasis is on the team trophy.
Team race vests As a result of sponsorship support, the majority of T15 clubs have been provided with their own set of race vests. For those clubs who don't yet have race vests, a club sponsor needs to be found so that funds are available to purchase a set for your club (if you know of any local companies therefore who may be interested, please get them to visit the sponsors area of the T15 website).
Team race vests are colour-coded to each club; they carry the club name and the appropriate sponsor's logo, as well as an individual sailor identification number. Watching from the shore therefore, is a bit like watching footie teams afloat (except there will be more than just two teams!). Spectators will be able to see very easily the positions of each club and each competitor within the fleet.
Since there are only 15 race vests per club - hence you're one of the 'Team15' representing your club - you will need to let the coach know that you wish to take part in T15 inter-club challenges. We would like to see as many teams as possible hitting the magic 15 so encourage everyone in your club to have a go. As clubs grow then more than 15 people may wish to be in the team; where this is the case then in the spirit of T15, Zone Squad Sailors should step down from the team and let newcomers take their place.
For further information about inter-club challenges... To find out further information about the events click on the appropriate zone (listed on the left-hand side). Here you will find a Notice of Race (NoR) for each event so you know where the events are, on what days and who can attend. If you need any further information about the events then contact your team15 Competition Organiser - their photo and contact details are on the zone homepage.
Event reports Following the event the NoR will change to an event report, with photos and results posted.
We are always in need of good quality photographs (close-up shots are best) so please ask your Mum & Dad to send any good photos via email to team15@rya.org.uk We particularly need photos of the winning team in their race vests.
Sponsors None of this would be possible without the support of the T15 sponsors, so a big thanks to the companies listed in the sponsors section. We encourage all teams to keep in touch with their sponsors and let them know how your club is doing...perhaps send some photographs and event or club reports. A 'thanks for the support' message is always welcomed.

ADOPT-A-BEACH

The Green Blue is an environmental awareness initiative by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. One of its aims is to educate and promote the sustainable use of coastal and inland waters by watersports participants.
Some of the initiatives have a relevance to windsurfers - especially in achieving cleaner seas and beaches.
Adopt-a-Beach is definitely relevant to T15ers, which is a Marine Conservation Society project supported by the Green Blue.
